HOW NJORO
BEGAN
Njoro is the village on the South slope of Mt
Kilimanjaro on 750m from sea level. Njoro village started after Second World
War ended on 1945 during returning solder from the battle coast, some of
solders from different tribes settled at Msaranga like Makonde, Sukuma, and
Maasai etc. When Chagga tribes from Mt Kilimanjaro start to ascend from Kolila,
Old Moshi, and Kiboroloni to Msaranga and start to acquire Viamba some of the
people’s tribes Maasai, Makonde and Sambaa run away to the north west of the forest
Njoro. After the coffee building factory KNCU, Colonial Rail way station built
at MOSHI town the part become favored place for its wet Njoro Springs Arc and
hiding for criminals who steal at town.
Also
during the designing ward of Majengo 1970s accelerate the growing of Njoro
Kata, the name Njoro came from spring Njoro among the biggest spring in town,
during 1970 flood erode Rail way channel bunk and form Korongo Valley River.
Due to Njoro wet springs many of meat
butchering activity in Moshi town was
done to Njoro springs near to Laliga Night Club, the biggest Njoro spring was
used by local peoples to their activity and traditional sacrifice. During 1990s
sacrifice on Njoro spring like cow was slaughtered meats distributed to peoples
and local religion leader Sheikh Bohora used to lead the ritual to good omen to
happen to Njoro village.
Many
peoples who live in Njoro are Sambaas tribe from Sambara Mountains some were
witch doctors like Mzee Kachem used to cursing demons on Njoro river Channel
.The leader Sheikh Bohora is co founder
of Njoro mosque on 1964 after the movement of Sheikh Bohora recognized and one
of the Street in town given his name Bohora Street .
